1934-S Peace Silver Dollar — San Francisco Mint

Own a sought-after piece of American numismatic history with this 1934-S Peace Silver Dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint during the Great Depression.

Designed by Italian-American sculptor Anthony de Francisci, the Peace Dollar was introduced in 1921 to commemorate the restoration of peace following World War I. The series was produced from 1921 through 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935, becoming one of the most recognizable designs in classic United States silver coinage.

The obverse features a striking left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a radiant crown, symbolizing freedom and enlightenment. The inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST surround the portrait, with the date 1934 positioned beneath Liberty.

The reverse displays a majestic bald eagle perched upon a rock, holding an olive branch while facing the rays of a rising sun. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE complete the design. The S mint mark identifies this coin as a product of the San Francisco Mint.

The 1934-S Peace Dollar is a recognized key-date issue within the series. With an original mintage of just over one million coins, it is particularly desirable among collectors assembling complete date-and-mint-mark sets. Many surviving examples circulated extensively, making attractive, well-preserved specimens especially sought after.

Struck in 90% silver, this historic dollar combines precious-metal content, classic American artistry, and significant collector appeal.
