The inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM appears above Liberty, with thirteen stars surrounding the lower portion of the design and the date 1892 positioned beneath the portrait.

The reverse displays a majestic bald eagle with outstretched wings, holding arrows and an olive branch, surrounded by a laurel wreath. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and IN GOD WE TRUST complete the classic design. The S mint mark identifies this coin as a product of the San Francisco Mint.

The 1892-S Morgan Silver Dollar is a recognized better-date issue within the series. Although several million examples were originally produced, many entered circulation, and well-preserved specimens are considerably more difficult to obtain than common-date Morgan Dollars.
