The reverse displays the historic Liberty Bell, an enduring symbol of American independence, accompanied by a small eagle to satisfy federal coinage design requirements. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, HALF DOLLAR, and E PLURIBUS UNUM complete the design.
